Tragedy as 21 school children killed in auto crash in Enugu State

Yesterday was a tragic day for people living in Awgu community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State as 21 children died in an auto crash. 

Trunnion News gathered that the accident occurred at Mgbowo Awgu when a truck belonging to a construction company at Oji — River lost control and ran into a school bus conveying pupils from Presentation Nursery and Primary School in Awgu. 

Mr. Ogbonna Kalu who is the Enugu Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident yesterday that at about 11:00 AM, 21 school children has been confirmed dead from the accident.

Ogbonna said the school bus was carrying 51 people, both Primary and Secondary school children, two teachers and a driver. 

He also noted that, not all those confirmed dead are school children. Those selling by the roadside are also included.

Ogbonna said that, they have visited the hospital where those wounded were taken to and said that the parents of those affected victims have taken their children to their desirable hospital.
