Hisbah bans radio station from calling 'Black Friday' says Friday is holy in Kano

Hisbah corps in Kano State has banned Cool FM from mentioning 'Black Friday' in their programs insinuating that Friday is a holy day in the state. 

Black Friday is a season where brands and retailers subsidizes the price of goods and services for their customers or potential buyers.

In a letter signed by Abubakar Ali on behalf of the Commander General and addressed to the Manager of Cool FM, the board commanded the media house to stop the act immediately.


See what they wrote, “Accordingly, we wish to express our concern on ttagging of the Friday as “Black Friday” and further inform you that the majority of the inhabitants of Kano state are Muslims that consider Friday as Holy Day.

“In view if the foregoing you are requested to stop calling the day as Black Friday with immediate effect and note that Hisbah corps will be around for surveillance purposes with a view to avoiding occurence of any immoral activities as well as maintaining peace, harmony and stability in the state.”
