Residents of Benin City cries out as armed robbers takes over Benin

Crimes, violence and all forms of evil activities has taken over Benin City in Edo State since the hoodlums who disguised as #EndSARS protesters broke into two correctional centers in the city and freed over one thousand nine hundred (1,900) inmates including one hundred and twenty (120) condemned criminals.

In recent times, people in Benin City are complaining day and night as homes, individuals, guesthouses and business centres have now become target by armed robbers.

The latest robbery case was just 500 metres away from entrance gate of the Edo State Government house.

On Wednesday night, not fewer than 13 occupants of the guesthouse were robbed and the manager of the guesthouse was injured and he's currently receiving treatment at the private hospital here in Benin City.

The faith of the residents are chattared as the Police are yet to return to the streets due to the recent attacks on Police stations.

A victim from the guesthouse narrating the experience of the Wednesday night robbery, he said "they tied up their victims and made away with food and drinks.

"The incident happened at about 3:00 AM on Wednesday. The armed robbers spent over one hour moving from room to room.

"They came into the guesthouse at about 3:00 AM, they started beating the security man at the guesthouse, then they now put off the generator. They tied the legs of the security man and they went to the reception where they took the accountant and forced him to lead them to each of the rooms in the guesthouse. They ransacked and took everything from us including our phones, money, food and drinks.

"They were six (6) in numbers, four (4) of them were with Guns while the remaining two were with machetes which they used on the ear and head of the manager at the guesthouse".

Chidi Nwabuzor, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state said they would soon be back on the streets to protect lives and properties.
