NYSC: Culture and Tourism CDS Katsina State set to break record (See why)


Community Development Service (CDS) is one of the (4) Cardinal Programmes in NYSC  in which corps members contribute positively to the development of their host communities throughout the period of national service

Recently, Trunnion News gathered that the Culture and Tourism CDS group in Katsina town is set to produce a play titled Bayajida

This play has not been staged in the history of Katsina State

Our corespondent met with the CDS president named Adrian Ike on Saturday 22nd May to grant him an executive interview.

In his word, "The play BAYAJIDA is a drama that encapsulates dances, songs and pantomimic dramatic enactments from the vaults of the rich cultural heritage of the Hausa people. It has become an effective tool for the promotion and propagation of the culture of resilience, inclusiveness and projection of the positive values of the core Northern region. Employing variegated dances, sonorous songs; in colours and clatter.

"BAYAJIDA is a play on leadership, patriotism, selflessness and willingness to pay the ultimate prize for the people. As a very popular Legendary mythology and story, it reveals the story of a man, throw in the yoke of bondage of a serpent that held the people of Daura under siege for years. The people were restricted from getting water from the KUSUGU well that abodes Sarki, the snake and keeper of the well. BAYAJIDA was able to kill the serpent and liberate the people.

"The culture and tourism community development service of the national youth service Corps of katsina State, has in there ability recreated this story through the dramatic display of this historical event that happened many years ago. With the help of the community, this drama will be stage at the open air theatre in katsina Town, Katsina State".

Meanwhile, Trunnion News earlier reported that Umar Ibrahim who was a parade Commander during his time in NYSC camp had replied all those mocking him.
