The attorney-general of the federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami says it's likely to be hoodlums wearing military uniforms that shots the #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos.
Few weeks ago, #EndSARS protesters were calling for the disbandment of the Special Anti–robbery Squard (SARS) of which the protest became nationwide.
The Police unit was disbanded by the federal government but the #EndSARS protesters persisted and demanded that the Police force itself should be reformed.
The #EndSARS protesters converged at the Lekki tollgate for 13 days before they were forcefully dispersed by men in military uniforms believed to be Nigerian army.
There were unpleasant reports that some of the #EndSARS protesters were killed by Nigerian soldiers on October 20th 2020, but the actual number of casualties is unknown as investigation is still underway.
When the AGF Malami was speaking with news correspondence on Monday November 2nd, he said investigation is underway to discover what truely happened at the Lekki tollgate.
Malami said "It was pre-emptive to say or conclude that there has been a shooting, hoodlums may have been hired to create a scene at the Lekki tollgate."
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu blamed the incident on forces beyond his control.
